Replacing Your RV Awning With RV Awning Replacement FabricAN INTRODUCTION: If you use your RV for an extended period of time, your RV awning fabric will probably need to be replaced. Typically, most RV awnings last between 10-15 years depending on weather conditions and use. Fortunately, when they do need to be replaced, the expense is not that great. So, when you find yourself in a situation where your RV awning needs replacing, there are a few things to keep in mind. RV AWNING SIZES: To begin with, RV awning replacement fabric is sold one or two ways: In universal lengths and fitted lengths. Universal lengths are sold between the lengths of 14' - 21' in 1' increments standard. Custom lengths between 8' -25' are also available but need to be special ordered. There are also instances where you can order direct from the manufacturer of your awning and purchase an exact fit. To do so, keep track of all model numbers and the type of RV you're ordering for. This may be your easiest route. Whatever your situation, and given the above parameters, there is a RV awning replacement fabric to fit your needs. TAKING SOME MEASUREMENTS: The first thing you need to do to order your RV awning replacement fabric (if you can't order an exact fit) is to take some measurements. There are three primary measurements you'll need to take: 1) Measure the length of the support bars. These are the bars attached to the lower part of the RV side wall and extend diagonally to the outside edge of the awning. 2) Measure the length of the horizontal support bar. This is the bar that both the diagonal support bars tie into. Make sure you measure to the outside edge. 3) Measure the distance between the (2) diagonal support bars where they attach to the RV near the bottom. With these three measurements, you should be able to order RV awning replacement fabric rather easily. The only other item you'll need to address is what type of fabric to order The three most common types of fabric used as an RV awning replacement fabric are PVC, polyweave PVC, and Acrylic. Most of these fabric types are found in universal lengths.
